A few days ago, on the book of faces, I saw an article titled: Jessica Chastain tired of waiting for Hollywood, Launches Female Production Company. Well, for an obvious reason, I was interested. Yes. So excited to see their coming movies, which they have two of already. But more so, I had the thought, when does anything ever get done by just waiting? Now, this is coming from a 21-year-old college student who goes nearly two months without doing laundry because it’s too much time to sacrifice – but it won’t get done unless I do it! Wow, I just made a metaphor out of my dirt…
But seriously, waiting for things to get done is another way to say, voluntarily sitting back and letting your life pass you by. Now, there are times, many times, where you cannot do anymore to control your fate or optimize your opportunity, but there are also many times that you can, from the big to the small. It’s a matter of identifying what you think is controllable fate, making sure that all actual controllable fates are in there, having the patience and will to accept that it will not be easy or happen right away, and allow ing yourself to be open for the unexpected. That’s all!….yeah, I know, not easy.
“Once you get to a certain age, there comes a time when you can’t blame your parents for your missed opportunities, failures, or misgivings, because you have control over how you think, represent yourself, and live life.” I can’t remember where I heard this (and that makes me sad) and I definitely add-libbed, but I really like this! Of course, those certain ages are different for each individual, but I know too many adults who never take responsibility for anything, including their own advancement. There are way too many uncontrollable factors in this world, don’t label the controllable ones incorrectly, own them.
