A Vincent Van Gogh Musical

The Huffington Post Arts & Culture recently published an article on their website about a new musical about Vincent Van Gogh called “Vincent”. The arts editors created a fake playbill satirizing the event and artistic creation.

I found it intriguing to be exposed to this news in such a opinionated way so I tried to find an original article with more information about what the real musical was about and I found something on The Telegraph that added less to the information.

The musical is set to open in Fall 2015 in Amsterdam for the 125 year anniversary of Van Gogh’s death. What the second article revealed that the first didn’t was a clearer description of the fact that the play was about Van Gogh’s life particularly with his struggle with mental illness.

I am inclined to question the first article’s satire as the only way to approach this new musical. I understand how we find humor in things we find difficult to understand but in this situation I also would like to know what actually is happening in theatre news.
